November Steel Challenge Match Draws Largest Turnout of the Year
On the second Saturday of November, CRPC hosted its monthly Steel Challenge Match, and this month’s event set a new club record. Shooters from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama joined CRPC members and active-duty military personnel for a total of 75 guns—our largest turnout of the year.
Steel Challenge is a speed-focused competition where shooters engage a series of eight official stages, each featuring five steel targets. Competitors shoot five strings on every stage, with their slowest run dropped. The fastest overall time wins. This month’s match included: Roundabout, Pendulum, Five to Go, Smoke & Hope, and Speed Option.
The match takes place on the pistol bays (Ranges 4A through 7). Matches begin at 9:00 AM, with registration opening at 8:00 AM. During this time, those bays are closed to general member use, but Range 3A remains open. New shooters are welcome and must attend a brief safety and orientation meeting held immediately before each match.
We encourage CRPC members of all ages and experience levels to come out and give Steel Challenge a try. It’s one of the best ways to get an introduction to competitive shooting in a safe, friendly, and structured environment.
