Adapting to Conditions

James Freeman | Published on 4/24/2026
Tuesday night we completed week 9 of the 2026 Spring Rimfire League.  The original plan for the League was for each season to last 12 weeks with the banquet on the 13th Tuesday.  Several times in the past we have had to shorten the season for various reasons such as holidays, special events and weather.  This season is no exception.  The banquet was previously scheduled for May 19.  However, this is high school graduation night that will cause a conflict for several League members.  I took a general consensus last night to see how the majority wanted to handle this.   One option was to cut the season short by one week. The other option was to have the banquet on May 26, but this created conflicts as well.   So, we will cut the season short by one week and have the banquet on May 12 instead of May 19.   This means that there are only two more weeks to shoot.  Several of you have paid in advance for 12 weeks so the fee for week 12 will be refunded to you.

As you look at the standings below you will see that many of the scores are very close.  After the match next week, I will determine who will need to shoot a tie-breaker target.  I believe that there will be several that will need to do this.  Those individuals will be noted on the update next week.  The tie breaker targets will be different than the usual League targets and a little more challenging.  After all, the purpose is to break the ties.

In the Foundation Handicap Division there is currently a tie for first place, and the top 13 shooters are separated by less than 1 point.  In the Foundation Non-Handicap Division there is a 3-way tie for first place with less than 1 point separating the top five shooters.

I hope you have saved your very best ammo for the next two weeks!

Best regards,
James
