Handgun Ranges


CRPC has five ranges primarily used for handguns. Pistols may be shot at all Handgun ranges, whiles centerfire rifles and shotguns are allowed at only two of these ranges. Range 4b has a COLD RANGE indicator (audio and visual) to indicate the presence of members down range. When the indicators are active, shooters may not touch or handle any firearms on that range.


All shooters are reminded to police their areas after they are done shooting. This means taking down any paper targets, removing any personal target stands or steel targets (where allowed), picking up brass (either for reloading or deposit in the brass buckets) and throwing away any trash created. Leave the range cleaner than you found it.


When shooting at these ranges, members and guests may draw from the holster at any of the ranges. No rate of fire restrictions exist, as long as the shooter can control where the shots go.

Range 4a

This range is for firearms of handgun calibers only. The bay is approximately 25 yards deep. There are no permanent target boards in this range. There is a carport structure for shade and several picnic tables.

Members may use their own targets at this range, including steel. However, anything brought in for shooting must be removed when done. Anything left behind will be thrown away. Targets may not be attached to the side berm along either the Hesco bags or railroad ties.

Firearms Allowed:

  • Pistol Caliber Carbines/Rifles
  • Pistols
  • Airguns
  • Rimfire rifles

Calibers Allowed:

  • Anything considered a pistol cartridge
  • .22 Rimfire

Targets Allowed:

  • Paper
  • Steel
  • Cardboard

Firearms NOT Allowed:

  • Shotguns
  • Rifles not in pistol caliber

Calibers NOT Allowed:

  • Anything considered primarily a rifle cartridge (excluding rimfire)
  • Any shotgun cartridges of any gauge

Targets NOT Allowed:

  • Glass items
  • Clay pigeons
  • Exploding (Tannerite, etc.)

Range 4b

This range is for firearms of handgun calibers only. The bay is approximately 28 yards deep. There are five permanent target boards in this range. There is a concrete pad that spans the entire width of the shooting area with a roof over the pad. Tables also span the shooting area. Plastic chairs are available, as well. Electric fans help keep the breeze going in Summer.

Two target boards are placed at approximately 6 yards, two target board are at approximately 15 yards, and one target board is at approximately 25 yards. Paper and cardboard targets must be affixed to one of these target board. No user target stands are allowed at this range. Targets must not be placed on areas painted red on the target boards and posts and shots may not be intentionally fired at red areas.

Shooting must be done from directly behind the tables on the concrete when more than one person/group is present. One person/group may shoot out on the range surface in front of the concrete, but only when there are no others present on this range.

This range has a COLD RANGE horn and shooters may NOT touch or handle any firearms when the horn is active.

Members may NOT use their own target stands at this range. No steel targets are allowed at this range. Items, such as clay pigeons may not be shot on the back berm or anywhere else on this range.

Range 5

This range is for firearms of handgun calibers only. The bay is approximately 28 yards deep. This range is a steel target only range. A concrete pad that spans the entire width of the shooting area with a roof over the pad. Tables also span the shooting area. Plastic chairs are available, as well.

Two plate racks are placed at approximately 12 yards and two plate racks are at approximately 24 yards. Several additional steel targets found here include a dueling tree and a spinner.

Shooting must be done from directly behind the tables on the concrete. No shooting may be done from on the range surface in front of the concrete at any time.

Members may NOT use their own steel target at this range. Paper, cardboard or any other items may NOT be placed on the railroad ties at the back of the berm to be shot.

Calibers Allowed:

  • Anything considered a pistol cartridge (no magnum cartridges)
  • .22 Rimfire

Targets Allowed:

  • Steel, club provided

Firearms NOT Allowed:

  • Shotguns
  • Rifles not in Pistol Caliber

Calibers NOT Allowed:

  • Any muzzle velocity above 1600 fps
  • Any Magnum caliber (pistol or rifle)
  • Anything considered primarily a rifle cartridge (excluding rimfire)
  • Any shotgun cartridges of any gauge

Targets NOT Allowed:

  • Personal steel
  • Paper, cardboard, plastic targets
  • Glass items
  • Clay pigeons
  • Exploding (Tannerite, etc.)

Range 6

This range is for most any firearm of any caliber. This INCLUDES rifles, pistols and shotguns. The bay is approximately 25 yards deep. This range does not have a concrete pad but does have a permanent cover, with several picnic tables. Plastic chairs are available, as well.

Shooting may be done from directly behind the table. Shooting may also be done from on the range surface in front of the cover if there are no other persons/groups at this range.

Personal paper, cardboard or steel targets may be shot at this range. No permanent target stands or boards are provided, but shooters may bring their own, as long as they are not left at the range.

  • Full automatic*
  • Force Reset Trigger*
  • Binary Trigger*

* Prior approval from Chief Range Safety Officer and endorsement sticker on badge required.

  • Centerfire handgun and rifle
  • Rimfire of any caliber
  • Shotgun any gauge
  • Shotgun bird, buck and slugs

Targets Allowed:

  • Steel
  • Paper/Cardboard
  • Clay pigeons

Range 7

This range is for rifles and pistols of any caliber. This INCLUDES rifles and pistols, but not shotguns. The bay is approximately 40 yards deep, from the cover to the back berm. This range does not have a concrete pad but does have a permanent cover, with several picnic tables. Plastic chairs are available, as well. Shotguns may only be shot at range 6.

Shooting may be done from under the cover, however, shooters must be aware of their muzzle at all times when shooting from under the cover. Shooting is primarily done from on the range surface in front of the concrete parking block.

Personal paper, cardboard or steel targets may be shot at this range. No permanent target stands or boards are provided, but shooters may bring their own, as long as they are not left at the range.
